By: Tom McCarthy McCarthy maintains a literal diction in order to communicate his information to his audience. His diction is clear and concrete in order to maintain a detached point of view while writing this article. He had a detached tone although there were some hints of sarcasm when addressing and or informing about certain details on the event. McCarthy had a hint of sarcasm "McCabe himself was registered Republican as recently as 2016, when he voted in the Republican primary in Virginia..." this was his response to the fact that Trump said McCabe should be fired because his wife had received money from Hillary Clinton. He also elaborated the money came from Terry McAuliffe who is not Hillary Clinton. This appears to be McCarthy being a little sarcastic to the fact that the money really wasn't from Hillary it was from one of her supporters and the fact McCabe was a republican so he had no reason to be negatively influenced. McCarthy established credibility, which appeals to ethos when including quotes from people involved he states their position so the audience knows how they take part in the event and how they influence it. He created this article to bring to light that another of the FBI individuals involved in Trump's case has been pushed out this time McCabe stepped down early. McCarthy talks about how Trump has been constantly attacking McCabe on twitter trying to ruin McCabe's credibility. McCarthy wrote this to take the importance of McCabe's early retirement and how this looks on the case and on Trump.
