By Lauren Gambino
Gambino went head first into the subject she kept a formal tone to create credibility that the information she provides you is accurate. Gambino makes sure she maintains detached emotional from the subject in order to inform her audience. The article had a Candid tone Gambino demonstrated this in her article whilst laying down real testimony. But the most outstanding aspect of the article were the appeals to both logos and pathos. Logos, because Gambino had to state the numerous, precious, and tedious details of what Daca is and what lengths Trump has gone to end it, she uses this so she is able to create a subtle opinion in the article. And pathos, she included testimony of a ‘Dreamer’ who talked about America being her home and how afraid she was to leave it. Lauren Gambino needed to inform her audience of the program that gave hope to those undocumented students who wished to continue their education. Her purpose of this article was to inform of what Daca coming to an end really meant and what is taking place because of it. Gambino starts the article informing you of the situation and then slowly developing the fact that ending Daca is a heartless act affecting thousands, she ends on a hopeful note informing that the ‘Dreamers’ will stand up and speak. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/sep/06/paul-ryan-says-dreamers-should-rest-easy-over-expiring-daca-policy
